McLaren has confirmed that it will bring updates to the MCL40 during the Canadian GP, which takes place from May 22 to 24 in Montreal, continuing the car’s development plan for the 2026 Formula 1 season. The Woking team is close to Ferrari in the fight for second place in the constructors’ championship, just 16 points behind the Italian team.

In the preview of the Canadian GP, the team highlighted: “The competition in Miami was fierce, but the team secured a one-two in the Sprint and a double podium. The team is recharged after the race weekend break and is ready to carry this momentum into the next North American round.”
McLaren also confirmed aerodynamic updates for Montreal. According to the team: “As established at the start of the season, Miami was the first major step in our plan to add performance to the MCL40. This continues this weekend in Montreal, with a series of new components on the floor, chassis, front and rear wings, fairing, halo, and roll hoop.”

After achieving his first podium of the season in Miami, Lando Norris expressed frustration with the race result: “How did we not win that? We were supposed to win, guys.”
Still, the current world champion praised the recent development of the car: “We have improved a lot, and the fact that we are fighting for a win […] is great to see, and I am very proud of the team. And all the work that was done paid off immediately.”
