Charles Leclerc had a difficult Saturday (23) in Montreal, the venue of the Canadian Grand Prix of Formula 1. The Ferrari driver will start only from eighth position in Sunday’s race and described the session as one of the worst of his career, mainly pointing out problems with tire temperature and lack of harmony with the car.

“It was a horrible weekend. Fortunately, it’s not over yet and we hope tomorrow will be better, because the feeling can’t be worse than it is now. I had no harmony with the car. We solved the problems we had yesterday, but in qualifying we didn’t get the tires into the right temperature window,” he said.
To F1TV, he was even harsher: “It was one of the most disastrous weekends, honestly one of the worst, if not the worst of my career. Since Friday, I haven’t had a single lap where I could say I really felt the car. I had the feeling of risking hitting the wall at every corner because the tires were outside the ideal window,” he stated.
Leclerc explained that the difficulties started already in Q1, when the soft tires did not reach the ideal temperature, harming grip and confidence in the fast laps. Even with improvement in Q3, he could not go beyond eighth place, about four tenths behind George Russell’s pole position.

“We had this problem since Q1… in Q3 things improved, I did an acceptable lap, but eighth is not enough,” he said.
For the race, the forecast indicates the possibility of rain, which may increase uncertainties even more. Leclerc, however, fears this will complicate his situation further: “I think the whole race could be a big question mark. The rain can complicate things even more. So far, my problems have been related to temperatures,” he concluded.
