Charles Leclerc goes to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix of Formula 1 with the possibility of receiving a penalty for an engine change, as stated by the team principal Frederic Vassour himself.

The possibility comes after the severe crash the driver suffered in the early laps of the Italian GP, when he went off track and hit the protective wall. At the time, Ferrari had just introduced the second power unit under the FIA’s ADUO scheme and had to revert to the Spain GP.
However, after Madrid, the manager admitted that the ADUO2 unit would need to be replaced, although it would be possible to recover it after the crash.
“We will see when we have to take an engine penalty with Charles, but I think Baku should be quite suitable,” he told Canal+.

According to GPblog, Ferrari will further evaluate the power unit before confirming a change for Baku.
And Ferrari’s decision for Azerbaijan comes with little surprise, as the street circuit is one of the most favorable for overtaking in the F1 season.
