Charles Leclerc has already generated a bill of approximately US$ 1.888 million in repairs for Ferrari after his accidents in the 2026 Formula 1 season. The amount makes the Monegasque driver the most expensive on the grid this year, with the crash in Monza representing the second most costly individual accident of the season.

The sequence of damages began in Miami, when Leclerc touched the wall on the last lap and received a twenty-second penalty that made him lose positions. Then, the Monegasque driver suffered accidents in Q3 and during the race in Monaco, when he was fighting for a place on the podium, before crashing again during the qualifying session in Barcelona.
The most recent episode happened in Monza, where Leclerc lost control of the SF-26 during acceleration at the Parabolica. The car crossed the escape area at high speed and hit the tire barrier with a 60G impact, causing the red flag still on the third lap of the race.
The scale of the damage becomes even clearer in comparison with Lance Stroll. The Aston Martin driver’s accident in Monaco cost about US$ 375,000, less than a fifth of the total accumulated by Leclerc. Furthermore, Charles did not receive the checkered flag on three occasions this season, although he was classified in Barcelona.

The accident in Monza also had physical consequences for Leclerc, who reported having temporarily impaired vision in his right eye: “The right eye was not giving me good vision, but now everything is fine. That was the thing I was most worried about when getting out of the car,” said the driver, who would still need to undergo further tests before being cleared to race in Madrid next weekend.
For Ferrari, the US$ 1.888 million in repairs represents an amount that could be allocated to car development within the US$ 215 million annual budget cap.
