Liam Lawson lashed out at Sergio Pérez after last Sunday’s (8) Formula 1 Australian GP. The New Zealander stated that his opponent still hasn’t gotten over his dismissal from Red Bull.

At the opening of the 2026 calendar, after a start where he was almost stationary on the grid, the Racing Bulls driver spent the race in the back of the midfield. There, he crossed paths with the Mexican from Cadillac.
The two engaged in a fierce battle, even having brief contact. Because of the incident, the stewards investigated Checo for forcing Lawson off the track, but no penalty was applied.
It turns out that at the end of 2024, Pérez lost his Red Bull seat to Liam, but the New Zealander himself was replaced as early as the third race of 2025 – but for Lawson, the fight was personal.

“Yeah, I mean, two years later, he still hasn’t gotten over it. It felt like he was fighting for the world championship with me, and we were in 16th, so obviously, I don’t care much,” he said.
“My race was already over at that point. It wasn’t anything illegal; he was aggressive, but honestly, I don’t care,” he added.
