With the new regulations, the scenario has changed compared to previous years, when gains were increasingly smaller throughout the technical cycle. Now, according to Lawson, there is room for more significant and frequent advances, something that can redefine competitiveness among teams.
“The main thing now is development. When the car is still at the beginning of this cycle, you see much bigger differences,” he said. He pointed out that, unlike last season, when improvements were small, the current expectation is for more robust packages throughout the year.

Racing Bulls started the 2026 season reasonably well and occupies seventh position in the constructors’ championship, with fourteen points scored, staying close to Red Bull Racing, which is not having a good moment. Lawson also highlighted that the focus is on balancing technical evolution with consistency in track operations, including strategy and decision-making.
“Development is what we are seeking the most. This involves work on the track, in the simulator, and understanding how to extract the maximum from these updates,” said Lawson. He also highlighted the car’s reliability and the team’s ability to maximize results as positive points at this early stage of the championship.
