Lewis Hamilton reacted to the retirement in the first Spanish Formula 1 GP held in Madrid, and posted an enigmatic message on social media. The Ferrari driver also took the opportunity to congratulate Ugo Ugochukwu on the F3 title.

Hamilton started fourth after surpassing Charles Leclerc in the qualifying session, but his race ended in the early laps due to a brake system failure. With the retirement, the Briton failed to score points on a Sunday for the first time this season.
After the race, Hamilton thanked the team for the work done over the weekend and lamented the problem that ended his participation: “We were in a position to fight for a strong result, but unfortunately a problem with the brake system ended our afternoon early,” he said.
The British driver also sought to leave behind the frustration with the result and looked ahead to the next stage: “It’s disappointing, but we will move on and turn our attention to the next race, doing our best to come back strong. Thanks to all the fans for always being there,” he said.
Besides the reaction to the retirement, Hamilton congratulated Ugo Ugochukwu on the F3 title won during the main race on Sunday: “Huge congratulations to Ugo Ugochukwu for the F3 championship. Enjoy it, you deserve it a lot,” he wrote in a social media post.

The post was made without additional explanation about the meaning of the message.
Before that, speaking to Sky F1 about the championship, Hamilton acknowledged the strength of Kimi Antonelli and Mercedes. Asked if the Italian was ‘hard to stop’, he replied: “I think there’s no way to stop him or Mercedes this year. They did a phenomenal job and deserve it,” he added.
Hamilton also explained the problem that caused his retirement: “I pressed the brake, the car started to stop and then the pedal sank,” concluded the seven-time world champion.
