The episode further increased the Briton’s frustration after a busy race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Hamilton had already faced difficulties during the Sprint when he touched the famous wall of champions with the right rear of his SF-26 while occupying fourth position.
Despite the incident, the seven-time world champion managed to stay on the track but lost performance in the final stretch of the race. On the last lap, he was overtaken by McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and also lost position to teammate Charles Leclerc, finishing the Sprint only in sixth place.
After the race, Hamilton commented on the decisive moment that compromised his result in Montreal: “Piastri put the car alongside me in the last corner and basically overtook me. With that, I also lost position to Charles,” explained the Ferrari driver.
