Pierre Gasly expects the Canadian Grand Prix of Formula 1 to be an ‘elimination game’ if the rain forecast comes true, with several drivers concerned about the performance of the current rain tires.

In Montreal, even in dry asphalt conditions, competitors have already found that a second lap is needed to bring the tires into the ideal temperature window. And with the weather indicating that the race may take place in wet conditions and temperatures reaching 11ºC, the race could be chaotic, as pointed out by the French Alpine driver.
“I think just the track itself, when dry, already makes it difficult to warm up the tires. So, I think in the rain it will be extremely difficult. From what I have seen, this will make the race quite lively. Therefore, I think it will be important to see the checkered flag. I don’t want to say much, but I expect very difficult conditions if the track is wet,” he said.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up having a kind of elimination game. I could be wrong. I just experienced this in Magny-Cours and it was a surprise. Let’s see what happens,” added Gasly, who participated in a wet test with Pirelli and Alpine in early 2026.
