Pierre Gasly finished the Chinese GP on Sunday (15) in sixth place and was pleased with Alpine’s result, as the team managed to score points with both cars again after more than a year. The Frenchman highlighted the team’s evolution compared to previous seasons, especially last year. In 2025, the team finished the year at the bottom of the constructors’ table.

“I must say I am very happy,” said Gasly after the race in Shanghai. “Deep down, the extremely competitive Pierre is a bit upset about not getting P5. I really felt comfortable in fifth before the safety car left the track.”
The driver explained that he lost positions at the restart due to the team’s new power unit. “At the restart, for some reason, I had no power in the last corner. So, Ollie [Bearman, from Haas] overtook me easily and I lost the position there. Then, in the middle of the race, I ended up losing a bit of ground to him.”

Gasly celebrated the competitiveness of the race and Alpine’s overall performance: “It was qualifying lap after qualifying lap, so from that side, it was really very enjoyable. In the end, I was only two seconds behind. But it was still a very good day for the team. Looking at 2025, where we were and where we are now, it’s a completely different league. There are still details to adjust, but they are not irreparable limitations. I am quite confident,” Gasly stated.
