Ferrari is taking its controversial 270° rotating rear wing concept, nicknamed “Macarena” by team principal Frédéric Vasseur, to the Chinese GP in Shanghai. The design caught attention during pre-season testing in Bahrain, and the team accelerated development to have the update ready for the second race of the 2026 Formula 1 season.

Lewis Hamilton commented on the novelty to the press, stating that he does not expect significant performance gains this weekend: “I don’t think there are any. We spent a whole day or more working on the wing, so I think so. We got all the necessary use out of it, and I’m very grateful for the team’s work, because it was actually supposed to come later, and they worked very hard to develop it and bring it here,” said the Briton.
The seven-time world champion also praised the Italian team’s effort: “The team is fighting, the team is pushing and chasing, and really working overtime at the factory to be able to bring updates, because that’s the name of the game. I think last year I couldn’t see the full potential of the team in that aspect, because we were focused on next year.”

Regarding the name of the design, Hamilton revealed: “I don’t know if it has an official name. Someone said Macarena, I have no idea why, but it’s the ‘flip-flop’ wing.”
