In an interview with the Swiss publication Blick, both former executives showed they share the same opinion about who will take the title at the end of the year. “Antonelli will be the world champion, [Max] Verstappen remains the strongest driver in the field.”

In this year’s championship, the 19-year-old Italian has been the big highlight. After 11 rounds, he has achieved no less than six wins, as well as having stood on the podium nine times. He now holds a 50-point lead over Lewis Hamilton, the runner-up.

In contrast, the four-time Red Bull champion faced a very difficult first half of the year in Formula 1. Of the races contested, he managed only four podiums, being sixth in the Drivers’ World Championship.
