F1: Domenicali admits difficulty in rescheduling races in 2026

Formula 1 still faces uncertainties in the 2026 season calendar, especially regarding the Middle East rounds. Even with a ceasefire in the region, the Qatar and Abu Dhabi GPs, scheduled for November 29 and December 6, remain at risk.

In an interview with the Class CNBC program, Stefano Domenicali stated that the category is already evaluating alternatives in case it is necessary to cancel these races.
“We had to cancel the first two races, which would have been in Bahrain and Jeddah but, now, we have to wait, as we have the last two races at the end of the year, in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.”

<p“So, as you can imagine, we have to wait and see. We have a deadline to decide if the situation will allow us to hold the races. We hope so, as you can imagine, thinking about the future. But, on the other hand, it is our duty, as a global sport, to have an alternative ready. And that is what we have, of course.”

According to AutoRacer.it, the decision should be made by September, near the end of the European stage of the championship, which will have Madrid and Baku as the final commitments on the continent.

One possibility is to hold the Bahrain GP after the Azerbaijan round, while Jeddah could be part of a sequence of four races at the end of the year, starting in Las Vegas and ending with Qatar and Abu Dhabi. In an interview with Bloomberg, Domenicali highlighted the difficulty of reorganizing the calendar: “I think rescheduling two events is already very difficult. Our calendar is already very full. Maybe we can reschedule one [of the races].”
