David Coulthard made an optimistic prediction for the future of Aston Martin in Formula 1, saying the team will become a winner in the next two years.

With the regulation change in 2026, the Silverstone-based team has suffered from an extreme lack of competitiveness. Furthermore, the issues are deepened by an underperforming Honda engine, with the package ranking in the last positions during the first half of the season.
In Hungary, the British team brought the first major upgrade package and in the Netherlands, they bring an engine update. And Coulthard believes, therefore, that Aston Martin has the elements for success in the future.

“I think even Aston themselves would say: ‘we want this season to be wiped from the record books.’ That single point came thanks to Fernando Alonso, of course, in Monaco — in a race where there were more penalties than drivers,” he said on the Up to Speed podcast.
“Aston… very, very bad, we have to say that. Very, very bad. The summary is that about one second came from the engine, and a few seconds came from the car. But remember what I’m saying: they will be the team that improves the most in the next two years. I predict they will win Grand Prix races in the next two years,” he added.
