Cadillac ended the Chinese GP with both cars crossing the finish line, consolidating a positive performance in only its second weekend in Formula 1.

Sergio Perez, who finished 15th, highlighted the challenges of the race in Shanghai: “It was a good race today and we can be happy with our performance as a team, putting both cars across the finish line in only our second GP. My race wasn’t simple, I had contact with Valtteri at the start, which was my fault. I was a bit too optimistic and didn’t realize he had no space, which cost me time. Afterwards, whenever I closed the gap, I had some issues with energy management and ended up losing more than twenty seconds in total. But we should be proud of what we achieved in these two weekends, and I’m looking forward to building on this in the next race in Japan,” he said.
Valtteri Bottas, who finished 13th, also highlighted the team’s progress: “A great result for the team, finishing with both cars in P13 and P15 in our second GP. It wasn’t something I expected, as other teams had various problems throughout the race. On my side, I had a relatively smooth race, which put us in a solid position. We managed to compete and even fight with Aston Martin in some good battles. Clearly, we made progress in all the necessary areas from the first to the second GP. I am very proud of this team, but we know there is still work to be done,” he added.

Team principal Graeme Lowdon praised the team and reinforced confidence in the future: “We can be very satisfied with this result. We saw today that the complexity of the new cars caused significant problems for experienced teams, so being able to finish with two cars in our second race weekend is a great achievement for everyone in our team in Indianapolis, Charlotte, Silverstone, and Germany. Furthermore, we showed an evolution in pace and performance throughout the weekend and were able to compete with other teams. It has been a difficult few weeks, and I am very grateful to everyone for their hard work. We can end this first sequence of GPs with our heads held high, and confident that we have a solid foundation to evolve,” he added.
This performance by Cadillac highlights the team’s growth and the ability to compete consistently in the near future, opening up exciting prospects for the remainder of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
