“What an incredible day. This victory is the realization of one of the dreams I’ve had since I drove my first kart. It was a very special moment for all of us,” he said.

Race winner Andrea Kimi Antonelli (ITA) Mercedes AMG Formula One Team celebrates in parc ferme.

“The race itself was not easy. I lost a position at the start and had to fight to get it back. Then, we had to deal with the Safety Car restart, which was not easy with the hard tires. It was difficult to get the tires working, but fortunately we managed before being threatened by the drivers behind,” he continued.

“This was a great way to end the first double-header of the season, but there is still a lot of work ahead. We are not underestimating anything and we will ensure that we work hard before Japan to arrive at Suzuka in the best possible position,” he concluded.
