At Spa-Francorchamps, the young Italian secured his sixth victory of the 2026 season. After the virtual safety car, Charles Leclerc was in first, but the Mercedes driver managed to overtake the Monegasque for the lead – the overtake came after they had lapped the Cadillac Finn.


“I mean, the speed he was approaching was so high that it really caught me by surprise. So, I don’t know, did that make any difference? Was he able to pass after that?” he said.

Jokingly, Bottas added that “it’s, ah, okay. Kimi can pay me dinner. But, no, I mean, it was just the approaching speed that really caught me off guard.”
