Gabriel Bortoleto crossed the finish line in 12th place in the Sprint race of the Canadian GP. This Saturday (23), the competitor lost positions right after the start and had to climb back through the pack.

During the race, the Brazilian Audi driver complained about the engine behavior, citing a lack of power when accelerating and at certain points on the Montreal circuit.
Bortoleto returns to the track later this Saturday, the 23rd, for the GP qualifying at 5 pm Brasília time.

For this Sprint race, the Brazilian lined up in 12th place, the sixth row. Also, he started next to teammate Nico Hülkenberg, who began in 11th. Like the vast majority of the grid, he chose to race on medium tires.
The weather was overcast with gray skies and no sun. The temperature was cool, reaching 20ºC, and the asphalt was around 32ºC.
Lights out at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and the Audi duo dropped down. Each lost four positions, with the Brazilian going to 16th and shortly after to 17th after running wide at the last chicane.
As the race progressed, #5 tried to gain ground in Montreal. After five laps, he was just over 5 seconds behind Liam Lawson – on the radio, he complained about the engine and the lack of power when accelerating.

Gradually, Gabriel managed to complete some overtakes, first passing Pierre Gasly and then leaving his mentor Fernando Alonso behind, appearing in 15th.
On the 12th lap of the 23 scheduled in the Formula 1 Sprint race in Canada, Bortoleto remained in 15th place, about 6 seconds behind Lawson. Next, the Racing Bulls driver passed Hülkenberg, who was now ahead of his teammate, and shortly after, the Brazilian passed the German to move up to 14th.
Despite gaining the position, Bortoleto was still not happy with the engine and said on the radio that especially when exiting turn 7, the power unit was showing a strange response.
In the final laps, Bortoleto still managed to gain one more position and place himself in 13th. On the radio, Gabriel questioned what was happening on the track because he almost spun at the last corner.
Checkered flag and despite having dropped to 17th, Gabriel Bortoleto managed to recover to 12th, the same position he started in.
