Aston Martin took positive points from Formula 1 Hungarian GP qualifying. This Saturday (25), both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll stated that the updates were a step forward for the 2026 season.

The two-time Spanish champion managed to advance to Q2 at the Hungaroring and will line up in 16th position, starting from the eighth row in the 11th round of the calendar. “It was a more competitive weekend for us and reaching Q2 is a step in the right direction,” he said.
“We are still optimizing the package and there is more potential to explore in the car. The car feels more consistent and predictable, so it’s a bit easier to drive. We will continue learning about this car tomorrow and see what we can do in the race,” he continued.

The Canadian, however, failed to get past the first phase, but even starting from 20th in Hungary, he also sees an improvement in the AMR26 for 2026. “The car feels a step forward with more downforce and more grip, which is positive,” he said.
“We were ahead on the last lap and I think Q2 was possible, but I was caught out by a tailwind at Turn 12 and the car just didn’t turn in, so I couldn’t complete the lap. We are still lacking power and there are things to improve on the balance, especially after losing so much lap time yesterday. It’s encouraging that we have made progress, and I hope we can continue to evolve tomorrow,” he concluded.
