At twenty years old, Antonelli is experiencing a moment of prominence in Formula 1 and is approaching a possible title win as the youngest champion in history. Even with the possibility of defending the Italian team in the future, the young driver highlighted the relationship built with Mercedes since the beginning of his career.

Asked by Automoto Italy about a possible transfer to Ferrari, Antonelli explained that he is satisfied with his current situation: “Right now I am good where I am. I am very happy at Mercedes, also because I feel I owe them for all the opportunities they have given me,” he said.
The Italian recalled that Mercedes bet on him when he was only twelve years old and participated in his development throughout his career: “They were the ones who believed in me when I was just twelve years old. They accompanied me on this path of growth, and I hope to reap many successes with them in the future,” he said.

Antonelli, however, did not completely rule out the possibility of defending Ferrari someday: “We will see later. I don’t rule anything out, but today the goal is to win as much as possible with Mercedes,” he added.

The relationship with the German team grew even stronger after Antonelli’s victory at the recent Italian GP. He started from 19th position and won in Monza, becoming the first Italian to triumph in his home race since Ludovico Scarfiotti in 1966. After the race, the driver said that the reaction of the fans gave him chills, highlighting the emotion of hearing the anthem and his name being sung in the stands.
