Alpine arrives at the Canadian Grand Prix of Formula 1 next weekend, boosted by the positive results achieved in Miami, and confident in maintaining the evolution streak in the 2026 season. The French team highlighted Franco Colapinto’s recent good performance and believes it can return to fighting for points both in the Sprint race and in the main GP on Sunday in Montreal.

The French team left Miami satisfied, after placing both cars in the points zone throughout the weekend. Colapinto finished the main race in seventh position, achieving his best result in Formula 1, while Pierre Gasly scored a point in the Sprint.
Gasly stated that he is ready to return to the track after a frustrating finish in Miami: “It was a disappointing weekend, it’s not how anyone wants to end a GP, but fortunately I was fine, thanks to the safety level of Formula 1,” said the Frenchman, referring to the rollover he suffered after being hit by Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls.
In the following weeks, the French driver participated in special activities at former French GP circuits. Gasly drove the 1979 Renault RS10 at the Circuit Paul Ricard during the Grand Prix Historique, and also took part in Pirelli wet tire tests at Magny-Cours: “Two incredible circuits, two very different cars, and it was special to drive again in France, something rare for me nowadays,” he commented.
About the weekend in Canada, the Frenchman explained that the team worked to understand the problems faced in Miami: “I wasn’t completely comfortable in the car, so we tried to understand why. I think we have some answers and directions to follow in Canada. The goal is to maintain the team’s positive momentum and score as many points as possible in the Sprint race and the GP,” he concluded.

Colapinto also showed enthusiasm for the Canadian stage, especially since it is another Sprint weekend. The Argentine highlighted the confidence gained after recent results and stated that Alpine is on the right track in 2026: “Miami showed that we are heading in the right direction and that we had a consistent start to the season,” he said.
The Argentine driver also highlighted the importance of the work done at the Enstone factory in recent weeks, including simulator sessions to prepare for Montreal: “It’s a very fun circuit, finally a track where I have raced before, with fast straights, slow corners, and chicanes where we get very close to the walls. That’s great for the adrenaline,” he added.
Steve Nielsen, Alpine’s director, reinforced that the team sees potential in the current aerodynamic package, even with only small updates planned for Montreal: “We confirmed in Miami that our package is competitive and capable of scoring points on different circuits,” he said. The executive also praised Colapinto’s progress and explained that the team investigated the problems faced by Gasly: “We have some evidence of what happened and hope that both cars will be fighting for points again in Canada,” Nielsen concluded.
