Fernando Alonso is prepared to compete in the Formula 1 Australian GP this weekend. However, the Aston Martin competitor showed his doubts regarding Honda.

The two-time champion and the British team have faced a torturous start to the 2026 season. In the first practice sessions held in Melbourne, the competitor could not even run in FP1 due to problems with his power unit, while Lance Stroll completed only three laps.
In the second practice, the duo at least managed to complete 31 laps between them – the Spaniard set a lap 5s slower than the leader and the Canadian could not even stay within the 107% required for qualifying.
Speaking, then, on whether he believes there has been some kind of improvement from Aston Martin, Alonso said that “obviously, we are still analyzing the data from the first free practice.”

“To be honest, I didn’t feel much difference compared to Bahrain, and we didn’t complete many laps because of the problem with Honda in FP1, and we also had some problems with Honda in FP2. So, yes, we still need to make up for the lost time over the weekend. I hope tomorrow we have a smoother FP3,” he said.
Regarding whether he was on the limit to race, he said that “we are in a position to race. It’s more a question for Honda, whether they will have cars available.”
