Former Formula 1 driver Timo Glock received a heavy penalty during the 24 Hours of Nurburgring on the night from Saturday to Sunday this weekend. The German was disqualified from the traditional endurance race and also lost his license to race on the legendary Nordschleife-Nurburgring circuit, which is over 20 km long, after committing a serious infraction during the race.

The penalty occurred in the early morning, during a night stint of the driver. Glock was driving the #69 McLaren car, which featured a livery inspired by Michael Schumacher’s Benetton from the 1995 season.
According to the stewards, the former Toyota Formula 1 driver passed at 112 km/h through a ‘Code 60’ area, a section where competitors must drastically reduce speed for safety reasons. The infraction resulted in a severe penalty from the race direction.
The incident gained even more weight because Glock had already been penalized earlier during the event. With the new infraction, the German received two more penalty points, enough to lose his license to compete at Nordschleife.
In the official statement, the stewards explained the decision taken against the driver: “Timo Glock received a penalty for the second time. As he received two more penalty points, this resulted in the loss of his license to race at Nordschleife,” the document says.

The note also confirmed the immediate exclusion of the competitor from the German race: “At the same time, this means he is disqualified,” the stewards added.
With the penalty applied, Glock will need to start the license recovery process before returning to compete in races held at the traditional German circuit. The regulations require the driver to request reinstatement and retake the mandatory e-learning course to become eligible for future races at the circuit.
Despite the exclusion of the former Formula 1 driver, the other members of the #69 car continued normally in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring race. Martin Kirchhöfer, Ben Dörr, and Timo Scheider continued in the race, but without Glock’s participation for the remainder of the event.
