Nikola Tsolov was the fastest driver in the only free practice session for the eighth round of the 2026 Formula 2 season, held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. The Bulgarian from Campos Racing, the current championship leader, recorded a time of 1min58s927 on his best lap in the session held on the morning of this Friday (17).

The second position went to Martinius Stenshorne, a Rodin Motorsport driver who was 0.199 seconds slower than Tsolov. Nico Varrone, with a Van Amersfoort car, was the third fastest, followed by Roman Bilinski, fourth with DAMS. The top five was completed by Noel León, from Campos Racing.
Kush Maini completed the session with the sixth best time in an ART Grand Prix car, ahead of John Bennett, seventh with Trident. Brazilian Rafael Câmara, from Invicta Racing, finished the practice in eighth, with Laurens van Hoepen, from Trident, in ninth. Gabriele Mini, from MP Motorsport, closed the top 10.

Brazilian Emmo Fittipaldi had a more discreet performance in the free practice session, finishing 19th with a car prepared by AIX Racing. Alexander Dunne, who is competing for the title with Rodin Motorsport, was also modest in this activity, finishing 21st out of 22 competitors.
From 10:55 am, qualifying will take place to determine the starting positions for the two races of the weekend in Spa. The Sprint is scheduled for 9:15 am on Saturday, while Sunday features the main race, starting at 5 am.
