Ferrari emerged as the main rival to Mercedes in the early stages of 2026 – it is the only team that managed to win besides the German team. At the British GP, once again it stood up and in the end, Charles Leclerc was the big winner with the Briton in third place.
Now, going to race at Spa-Francorchamps, when asked if the team can be competitive in Belgium, the seven-time F1 champion said, “I mean, so far, we’ve really made great progress. And what gives me confidence arriving at Silverstone is that the simulator indicated we should start with a very different setup, but my engineers and I decided to follow the direction we would normally take.”

“Charles started with the original setup, but the simulator suggested another approach; in the end, the philosophy and direction I was following proved correct, and he ended up adopting that path. It’s good to see that the direction I defended is yielding results and that we need to keep making changes and maintaining the pace,” he continued.
“We have to keep bringing updates. Spa will have long straights, but, in the end, I need to do a better job than I did at Silverstone,” he concluded.
