NASCAR Brazil: Chaotic finish marks Race 2 and Galid Osman wins at Velocitta

Galid Osman won NASCAR Brazil Race 2 this Sunday (28), at the Velocitta Autodrome, in Mogi Guaçu (SP) after Nicolas Costa received a five-second penalty for a touch during the race. Costa had crossed the finish line in first place but dropped in the standings due to the penalty. Arthur Gama and Alfredinho Ibiapina completed the podium.

Nicolas Costa started from pole position but was overtaken by Thiago Camilo right at the first corner. Ricardo Zonta went off track, causing the Safety Car to come out.

At the moment of the yellow flag, Costa had regained the lead from Camilo. Arthur Gama and Gabriel Casagrande were right behind, while Galid Osman was in fifth place.

At the restart, Costa reacted better and managed to maintain first position. The first lap under green flag was calm, without many movements. Soon after, the safety car was deployed again to recover Denis Navarro’s car.

As soon as the green flag was waved, Costa accelerated and began to open a gap in the lead. The battle in the middle of the pack was fierce, with Alfredinho Ibiapina and Juninho Berlanda fighting for eighth place. Ibiapina came out on top.

With ten minutes remaining, Camilo closed in on Costa and brought Gama along. They started to pressure the race leader in the following laps. As a result, the top-10 pack became very close again.

With seven minutes to go, Camilo finally attempted an attack but was unsuccessful. He ended up opening space for Gama, who took second place. A few corners later, they were side by side and Gama went off track but avoided contact with Costa. Meanwhile, Ibiapina moved up to fifth place.

On the next lap, Ibiapina took fourth place from Casagrande and immediately went after Camilo. Gama closed in on Costa again but couldn’t make the pass.

With three minutes left, the safety car came out again to recover Gustavo Bandeira’s car.

The restart was authorized for the last two laps. Costa got off well but with Gama and Ibiapina on his tail. Camilo, in fourth, lost position to Galid Osman and Casagrande. Then, Casagrande moved up to fourth place.

Cacá Bueno and Thiago Camilo ended up involved in a touch and went off track. Shortly after, Costa had to “burn” tires to defend against Gama.

They entered the last lap close together, but Gama quickly went off track and was overtaken by Ibiapina. However, he soon regained the position. Meanwhile, Casagrande found a gap and jumped to second place. A small confusion happened and Casagrande was touched, hitting Camilo.

As a result, Costa was penalized and Galid Osman was the winner of Race 2.
