Timo Glock commented on his penalty and exclusion from the 24 Hours of Nürburgring last weekend. The former Formula 1 driver took responsibility for the serious incident during the race.

The German, who raced for Jordan and Toyota, had his DMSB Nordschleife license, which allows him to race on the track, revoked after being caught at high speed – 112 km/h – in a reduced speed zone – 60 km/h –, which led to his exclusion from the race.
Commenting on the penalty, Glock took responsibility. “It’s all my fault. Six weeks ago, I received two penalty points. Then came my double stint and I accelerated again 100 meters too early,” he said.

“It hurts, but it has to be punished. It’s the most dangerous track in the world,” he added.
Glock also explained that he did not see the marshal at the edge of the forest in the Metzgesfeld section. “You never really look up,” he added.
Explaining the reason for the penalty, the stewards said that “the stewards examined all the evidence and heard the competitors’ representative. After determining that driver T. Glock received two penalty points during this event, and had already received two penalty points in the 24 Hours qualifying, the stewards applied the above-mentioned penalty.”
