Jorge Martin raised concerns at the Barcelona circuit after suffering another severe crash during Monday’s testing. The Aprilia rider was taken to the hospital following the accident, ending an extremely difficult weekend at the MotoGP round in Catalonia.

The 2024 world champion accumulated five accidents over the last four days in Barcelona. The series of incidents led Aprilia to withdraw the team from the remainder of the testing session after the new crash suffered by the Spaniard.
Martin started the weekend just one point behind the championship leader, held by his teammate Marco Bezzecchi. The Spaniard was performing well on Friday until he suffered a violent crash at turn 12, when he slid through the short runoff area and ended up hitting his own bike, which had already crashed into the protective barrier.
After the impact, Martin appeared quite shaken and had difficulty standing while returning to the pits for medical evaluation. Even diagnosed with a mild concussion, the rider was cleared to continue the session and even performed a start practice on the same day.
The effects of the crash continued to show throughout the rest of the weekend. On Saturday, the Spaniard crashed again both in the qualifying session and in the Sprint race. In the Sunday race, Martin held a solid second position before being hit by Raul Fernandez after the second red flag of the race.

During Monday’s testing, the Aprilia rider suffered another crash, this time at the fast turn 7 of the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit. Initial assessments indicated no fractures in the left elbow and right leg, the most affected areas, but Martin will remain hospitalized for further examinations.
The weekend in Barcelona was also marked by serious accidents involving other MotoGP riders. Alex Marquez and Johann Zarco had to be hospitalized after separate crashes during the Catalan round.
Marquez was in great form and won the Sprint after an intense battle with Pedro Acosta, but suffered a severe crash in the Sunday race following a mechanical problem on a competitor’s bike. The Gresini rider fractured a vertebra in his neck and his collarbone. Zarco was involved in a crash on the restart after the first red flag and ended up suffering a fibula fracture and ligament rupture in the knee, after a heavy impact involving Luca Marini and Francesco Bagnaia.
