Celestino Vietti secured pole position this Saturday (16) for the Catalonia GP, the sixth round of the 2026 Moto2 season. In the final phase of qualifying held this morning at the Circuit de Barcelona, Spain, the SpeedRS rider recorded his best lap time of 1min41s076, earning the top spot.

The second position went to Collin Veijer, an Ajo rider who was 0.262 seconds slower than Vietti. The front row also includes Manuel González, the championship leader and Intact GP rider. Iván Ortolá, riding an MSI bike, will start from fourth position, while Alonso López from Gresini and Arón Canet from Marc VDS complete the top six on the grid.
Filip Salac, from the American Racing Team, took seventh place on the grid, while Daniel Holgado, from Aspar, secured eighth place, just ahead of José Antonio Rueda, ninth with an Ajo machine. Luca Lunetta from SpeedRS, Izán Guevara from Pramac, and Senna Agius from Intact GP complete the list of the top 12.

The session also featured a heavy crash between Alberto Fernández and Alex Escrig, who collided and fell. The KLINT rider lost control of his bike and collided with the Pramac rider. The air fence held the competitors and prevented more serious consequences for those involved.
The Moto2 Catalonia GP will be held this Sunday (17), with the start scheduled for 7:15 AM.
