Pipo Massa gains experience with pole and victories in his motorsport debut

After letting the adrenaline subside following a flawless debut in motorsport, Pipo Massa analyzed how the intense and victorious weekend went at the opening round of the 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup season in Interlagos.

“It was a very difficult weekend, I had to adapt very quickly because I couldn’t practice much on a dry track,” said Pipo.

The driver arrived in the category after one day of testing last year in Interlagos and two more days in Portimão, Portugal, this year. With so little experience, Pipo sought to complete as many laps as possible since the first pre-season practices, in the rain and in the dry, to do a crash course and get the hang of the car as quickly as possible.

The effort, combined with natural talent and a very special coach, his father Felipe Massa, began to yield results as early as qualifying last Saturday, when he secured pole position in the Rookie category.

A few hours later, Pipo started the first race of his career and won from start to finish, defending the lead well at the end when the safety car came onto the track and bunched up the field. He became the youngest driver in history, at 16 years old, to win in the Porsche Carrera Cup.

In the second race on Sunday, the scenario was different. Pipo started at the front of the Rookie category again but lost the lead while dodging an accident between other cars. Then he had to attack and, in the end, managed the overtake that secured him the victory.

“We managed to do two races with very different characteristics, one defending more and the other attacking well, which gave me a lot of racing experience right away, something I didn’t have,” he evaluated.

Practice in the rain and in the dry, showing speed to secure pole. One race where he needed to defend, another where he needed to attack to ensure the two victories. A perfect weekend full of experiences for rookie Pipo Massa to toughen up and already think about the next challenge.

“I am very happy to be able to debut with a win and I am very grateful to God, my family, my friends, and my sponsors for all the support. Now the focus is on the next one,” he concluded.

The second round of the Porsche Carrera Cup will be on March 27 and 28, at Velocitta, in Mogi Guaçu (SP).
