After winning the 2025 world title in a tight battle in Abu Dhabi against Max Verstappen and his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris has begun to show an attitude reminiscent of the Dutchman after his first championship, according to commentator Martin Brundle.

In an interview with Sky Sports News, he stated: “He is a world champion. So that has already fulfilled the biggest goal you can have as a racing driver. I like the way Lando is handling it. He’s doing it a bit like Max, but in a slightly different way.”
According to Brundle, the McLaren driver shows confidence without setting aside his personality: “He’s saying: ‘Look, I’m a world champion. I’ve achieved that. Now, whatever I do after this, I’m going to keep doing it my way, being Lando, being slightly insecure about myself, I’m not going to be super confident, because that’s not who I am.’”

The commentator also compared it to Verstappen’s statement after his first title: “Right, everything else from now on is a bonus.” For him, Norris has already fulfilled the greatest goal in motorsport — and is living this new phase “with a huge smile on his face.”
Norris begins his title defense this week at the Australian GP, the opening round of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
