Pierre Gasly experienced one of the most frightening moments of the Miami Formula 1 GP when the Alpine driver flipped after a touch from Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls, seeing his race end prematurely.

Despite the severity of the accident, the Frenchman confirmed that he emerged unscathed but did not hide his frustration with the outcome. According to him, there was potential for a good result, especially given the pace shown throughout the weekend.
“First, I am fine after the accident with Liam. It was a scary feeling to flip in a Formula 1 car, but fortunately it was nothing more serious and I was able to walk away,” he said. Gasly highlighted that the start was positive, gaining several positions, although it was compromised by an incident ahead: “I had to brake to avoid Max (Verstappen), who spun, and I ended up losing some positions, which put us in the middle of the pack,” he said.

Confident in the car’s performance, the driver believed he could score important points if he had a clear track: “I knew that with clean air, we could score good points. We had pace, especially after yesterday,” he added. However, Lawson’s contact ended any chance of recovery.
Gasly was straightforward in assessing the move that caused his retirement: “In my opinion, it was totally avoidable and should not have happened. He came to apologize to me, but I am disappointed for the team because we had pace and deserved to score,” he concluded. The Frenchman also emphasized that the focus now is to review what happened and improve the car for the upcoming stages, keeping the team among the most competitive on the starting grid.
