F1: Haas stays close to the top 10 and plans a comeback in Canada

The result gained weight given the limitations faced by the team, which did not bring updates for this stage. Even so, the performance left a feeling of a missed opportunity, but also indicated progress for the next races.

Bearman highlighted the balance of the competition and evaluated the result with caution: “It was very close, I’m a bit disappointed, but we knew it would be a tougher weekend since we didn’t bring updates,” he said. He also pointed out factors that hurt his race: “In the first lap I lost some positions and, even with a retirement ahead, we couldn’t get into the points, just barely,” he said.

Ocon also faced difficulties, especially after the pit stop: “We were going for a good race, but after the pit stop that changed, so we need to review that,” he said. The Frenchman acknowledged that the pace was not enough to fight for the top 10 and mentioned tire wear as one of the challenges: “We lacked a bit of pace and it was hard to maintain consistency,” he added.

The team principal, Ayao Komatsu, reinforced the reading of a complicated weekend, but with positive signs: “We knew it would be difficult because of the update strategy, but still we were close to the points,” he said, also highlighting that the team identified areas for improvement and is betting on introducing novelties to the car already in the next stage, in Canada, where a stronger performance is expected.
