The scenario highlights technical progress with the new aerodynamic package, but also emphasizes the need to improve execution. As a result, the team starts further back in the Sprint race, even with an apparently more competitive car.
Sergio Perez finished 19th and lamented the lack of opportunities in the session: “I was very happy with my lap, the pace was promising, but unfortunately I only had one attempt,” he said. According to him, the team had the potential to advance to SQ2, but lost time by going out late and could not prepare a second lap.

Valtteri Bottas, 20th placed, also highlighted improvements in the car’s behavior: “The car is better with the updates, especially in medium and high-speed corners, so we are going in the right direction,” he said. Despite this, he acknowledged that there is still work to be done to extract more performance.
The team principal, Graeme Lowdon, reinforced the positive impact of the technical updates but admitted failures in the process: “We brought a significant aerodynamic package that generated more downforce and lap time, but we lost an opportunity with Checo by not getting a second attempt,” he added. He concluded that the focus now is to maximize the package both technically and operationally to better capitalize on the progress already made.
