Formula 1 returns to accelerate in Miami this coming weekend, while Lance Stroll harshly criticizes the new regulations. The Aston Martin driver did not hold back when evaluating the 2026 rules, even after adjustments announced for the weekend.

These changes promoted by the FIA aim to respond to widespread criticism, with alterations such as reduced recharge in qualifying sessions, increased power in the ‘super-clipping’ and raised boost limit. Still, Stroll believes the problem goes beyond punctual corrections.
The Canadian stated that he expects some improvement in driving, but highlighted that the current scenario compromises the essence of the category: “I hope it’s better with all this partial throttle use and these things that are destroying the races and qualifying laps,” he said, also highlighting the excessive management required: “We are still far from real F1 cars, pushing to the limit without thinking about batteries,” he added.

During the forced break in April, Stroll revisited old races and compared them with the current moment. According to him, past cars had more identity, sound, and aggressiveness, characteristics that are now absent. The Canadian driver especially mentioned models from the V10 and V8 eras, highlighting the contrast in intensity and spectacle.
Even with rumors of possible future changes, Stroll acknowledges that the current regulations should remain for a few years: “It’s sad, but I hope we return to that direction,” he concluded. For him, the ideal would be the return of lighter, more agile, and louder cars, capable of offering more excitement both for drivers and the audience.
