The paddock was caught by surprise with the news of Gianpiero Lambiase’s move to McLaren for the 2028 season. Information indicated that the engineer could take Andrea Stella’s place, and in doing so, the Maranello team could be interested in the name, but PlanetF1.com reports that changes are unlikely.
So, evaluating Vasseur’s work with Ferrari in recent years in F1, Alesi views everything that has been done favorably. “Fred has been doing an excellent job since day one. Being a team principal must be incredible, I don’t know exactly what it’s like, but it must be incredibly complex. At Ferrari, it’s a different story. It multiplied by 100%…”, he told RacingNews365.

“I think it’s a combination of everything. At the moment, there isn’t a single person who can truly make a difference within the structure of a Formula 1 team. It’s incredible. When I look at a modern car, I think: my God. You need a great technical expert in each area. Everyone has their own idea. It’s very important to have a boss who can bring everything together,” he continued.
“That’s why Vasseur was very frustrated last year, because it was an incredibly difficult task for him to keep everyone united. There was a lot of criticism of the team and him, and that completely destabilized the balance within the team. Now it’s just the beginning of the season, but it seems Ferrari is on the right track,” he concluded.
