This update clarifies points that had not been previously disclosed, including the transport location and the cargo’s destination. Despite the theft, the company guaranteed that the product supply was not affected and that there are no risks to consumers.

Initially, the brand reported that a truck carrying 413.793 bars of a new KitKat line had disappeared. However, the company did not reveal at that time where the incident had occurred or details about the transport of the goods.

In a new statement, the Swiss company confirmed that the theft happened during the journey between its factory in central Italy and the final destination in Poland. The company also stated that it is working together with local authorities and logistics partners to try to recover the products.

“We can confirm that twelve tons of KitKat products were stolen during transport between our factory in central Italy and its destination in Poland. We are working closely with local authorities and supply chain partners to investigate. The good news: there are no concerns regarding consumer safety and the supply was not affected. Thank you,” the company stated.

The episode occurs at a recent moment in the partnership between Formula 1 and Nestlé, KitKat’s parent company. The two parties announced a multi-year agreement, with the brand becoming the ‘official chocolate bar of the category’.

The collaboration was announced in November 2024 and came into effect in 2025, coinciding with the 90th anniversary of the KitKat chocolate and the 75th anniversary of Formula 1. The partnership is expected to gain greater global reach starting in 2026, expanding the brand’s presence within the category.
