David Almansa was the fastest rider on Friday (18) during the free practice sessions for the Austrian GP, the 15th round of the 2026 Moto3 season. In the last of the two activities of the day at the Red Bull Ring, which defined the 14 riders directly qualified for Q2, the Intact GP rider recorded his best lap time of 1min39s668.

The second position went to Máximo Quiles, the Aspar rider who leads the championship and was beaten by Almansa by 0.195 seconds. Álvaro Carpe, from Ajo, took third place, followed by Matteo Bertelle, fourth with an MTA bike. The top five group also included Brian Uriarte, a rider representing Ajo.
Hakim Danish, from MSI, completed the day with the sixth best time, ahead of Joel Esteban, seventh best with an MTA bike. Rico Salmela, from Tech3, closed the day with the eighth time, ahead of Scott Ogden, ninth with CIP. The list of the top ten fastest at the Red Bull Ring was completed by Ryusei Yamanaka, from MSI.

In addition to the riders who make up the top 10, the list of those directly qualified for Q2 is completed by Adrián Cruces, with a CIP bike, Joel Kelso, a rider representing GRYD, Connor O’Gorman, from SIC58, and Adrián Fernández, who closes the list of 14 qualified riders with equipment prepared by Leopard Racing.
The Moto3 schedule at the Red Bull Ring will continue this Saturday (19), with another free practice session at 3:40 AM, and qualifying starting at 7:45 AM. The Austrian GP will be held on Sunday, starting at 6:00 AM.
