Alan Permane spoke about Audi’s appeal against the stewards’ decision not to punish Yuki Tsunoda during the Formula 1 Italian GP two weeks ago.

After the red flag due to Charles Leclerc, the Racing Bulls driver lined up 14th on the grid but came from the wrong side of the track and caused a new formation lap. According to Article B5.9.4 of the Sporting Regulations, a driver responsible for a new formation lap must enter the pit lane and start from there.
However, the stewards saw that Yuki remained within his grid space and the decision came from race director Rui Marques. The point is that the team was not informed that the driver was considered responsible. Audi disagreed with the interpretation and if the appeal is successful, Gabriel Bortoleto could gain a point, as he finished 11th behind Tsunoda.

But now Permane has also given his view on the whole case and took the opportunity to add a touch of humor – the director will have to go to Paris following the team’s involvement in the recent FIA International Court of Appeal hearing about the Monaco GP, in which McLaren and Red Bull appealed the penalties for Pierre Gasly. “Well, it’s always nice to go out at night in Paris, or have a second night like this in a short interval. Look, obviously we’re going there to defend the team and Yuki,” he said.
“I can’t go into details beyond that while the case is still open. Well, actually, it’s not even an open case yet, because I don’t think there was… We haven’t even received a notification from the FIA about it,” he added.
