Juan Pablo Montoya has high expectations for Williams, hoping the team will take a big step forward with the upgrade package it will bring to the Formula 1 Azerbaijan GP.

The Grove team had another tough weekend at the Spanish GP. Carlos Sainz retired from the home race while Alexander Albon crossed the finish line only in 15th place.
But for Baku, things are expected to change in the team’s favor. “I want to see what Williams will bring. I want to see the size of the step Williams will really take. They even told Carlos today: ‘Sorry for all this suffering. Next year, we want to make you proud’,” he said to the F1TV broadcast.
“Their next big step in the right direction will be at the next race. So, we will see how significant that progress will be. I think it will be a huge step, and they deserve it. It has been a tough year for them,” he continued.

James Vowles, Williams’ F1 team principal, has already described the upgrade package as a ‘B-spec’ car for Azerbaijan. “The best way to describe this to you is to say it is a ‘B-spec’ car. It is a new chassis, accompanied by other associated components. It will be a big upgrade, no doubt,” he said.
“In terms of the direction we are heading, we need, as a company, to prove to ourselves that we are capable of engineering with the proper level of quality and building a car with that same quality standard throughout the season; it is, in practice, equivalent to flying the plane while rebuilding it. We need to prove to ourselves that we have evolved from where we were three years ago and that we have this capability. And, at the moment, we are on the right path to achieve that,” he concluded.
