Sergio Pérez believes that the characteristics of the new Madrid circuit, which he described as “scary,” could favor Cadillac if everything works perfectly during the Spanish GP weekend.

It is precisely the unpredictable scenario expected in Madrid that fuels Perez’s hope. In a recent F3 test on the new circuit, 19 red flags were recorded in just two days, reinforcing the expectation of a chaotic weekend.
“The track itself is a real circuit, from what I saw,” Pérez told the press. The driver has not yet been to the layout in person but evaluated what he experienced through the simulator and found similarities with Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
“I haven’t been to the circuit yet, but from what I saw on the simulator, it’s a real track. It’s a bit scary, I’ll say. It reminds me a bit of Jeddah, a good and real track. I don’t think there is a place more dangerous than Jeddah; it’s already quite dangerous. So I don’t think Madrid will be something at that level. I think no one knows. We have to wait and see.”

“It all depends on the level of grip we will have, but I think there is no margin for error. I think I like these places because you are punished, and it’s very rare. Depending on which corner you make a mistake, you might escape. But in most places, there is no margin for that.”
For Pérez, the combination of a demanding circuit and the need for an almost perfect execution could open a door for Cadillac: “I definitely think this weekend is an opportunity for us. If we execute a good race, if we are 100% in everything, this could be an opportunity for us.”
