Max Verstappen stated that he felt like a ‘turtle’ at certain moments during the Formula 1 Italian GP last Sunday (6), even managing a podium.

The Red Bull driver briefly led the race in Monza, but the Mercedes cars flew by with much more speed on the straights. However, even with a weekend far from ideal in Monza, he jumped to third place.


The four-time world champion started from fifth place and although he couldn’t keep up with Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, he gained the necessary positions for the top 3. When asked what it’s like to fight at this point, he said, “to be honest, it’s not fun at all when people just pass you as if you were a turtle.”

“Then you just go around the outside again. The car is good under braking, so that helps. That gave me a lot of confidence to attack in the braking zones,” he added.
