Liam Lawson and Fernando Alonso will start from the pit lane at the Italian Grand Prix in Formula 1 after changes made to their cars under parc fermé conditions. The alterations made by Red Bull and Aston Martin forced both drivers to lose their grid positions in Monza.

Lawson was already scheduled to start 22nd after a penalty related to the power unit component change. However, Red Bull decided to change the rear wing assembly of the RB22 and also the suspension setup.
Since these changes are not allowed under parc fermé rules, the New Zealander will have to start the race from the pit lane. In practice, the decision replaces his expected position at the back of the grid with a start directly from the pits.

Alonso also underwent a similar change. Aston Martin chose to replace the MGU-K, energy storage, and control electronics of his car before the race.
The Spaniard had already exceeded the allowed number of these components. With the replacements made, Alonso will also have to start from the pit lane at the Italian GP.
