Gerson Campos did the full sweep in this first race of the Porsche Cup Sprint Challenge. On a very wet Interlagos this Saturday (5), he turned pole position into victory, his fourth at the São Paulo circuit.

The competitor already made good use of the rainy conditions in qualifying, when he secured the top spot on the starting grid. In the race, as soon as the start was authorized, he created an advantage, pulled away at the front and never left it, securing the ninth win of his career.
Now, he is more of a leader than ever and has achieved another important result for the championship. “Starting from pole in these conditions we have a huge advantage, those behind get spray and always stay in the pack. So, I managed to do clean first and second laps, then I saw they fought a little, lost a bit of time,” he said to the Porsche Cup broadcast.

“I won’t say I could manage it because the times were very close, but I didn’t have to push to the limit, kept a good pace, and there at the end, on the last lap, I decided to ease off and that’s when you start making mistakes, so you can’t, you have to keep the pace. So, I’m very happy, I thank my technical team and that’s it, I’m very happy,” he added.
