Red Bull Racing has officially announced an important hire for its Formula 1 structure. Tom McCullough will be the team’s new race chief starting in 2027.

McCullough will join Red Bull after a ‘gardening period’, following his departure from Aston Martin. The professional left the British group in August 2026 and will take on a newly created role at the Milton Keynes team.
The engineer has experience with Reynard Engineering, Williams, and Sauber. He joined Aston Martin in 2014, when the team still competed as Force India, initially as chief race engineer, before being promoted to performance director in January 2018.
In January 2025, however, McCullough was removed from the F1 team structure and transferred to the performance directorate of Aston Martin Performance Technologies. The change occurred after results considered below expectations during the second half of 2023 and throughout 2024.

Now, Red Bull is betting on the experience accumulated by the professional to strengthen its technical structure: “We are very pleased to welcome Tom to the team at the beginning of 2027 and look forward to the great experience and knowledge he will bring to the role,” Red Bull said in a brief statement.
This hiring of McCullough represents the second prominent name that Red Bull has attracted from another team. Before him, the team had confirmed the arrival of Gwen Lagrue, coming from Mercedes to take on the role of young driver consultant.
