Sergio Pérez revealed that his management team spoke with other Formula 1 teams about a possible move in 2027. Even so, the Mexican made it clear that he intends to continue with Cadillac and participate in the project’s development.

Pérez was linked to a possible seat at Williams if Carlos Sainz left the team, a scenario that lost strength after the Spaniard’s multi-year renewal. The Mexican also appeared linked to Alpine, but the team decided to keep Franco Colapinto for 2027 after the Argentine’s performance improvement throughout the season.
“For me, nothing has changed. Of course, we had conversations with other teams, some teams called and there were contacts here and there, but for me nothing has changed,” Pérez said on the Beyond the Grid podcast. “I see this as my project and I want to be part of Cadillac. I really believe in it.”
The driver emphasized that he does not consider his time with the American team as something short-term. “I don’t think it’s a one-year project. I think it’s a long-term project that I want to be part of. Obviously, there will be some conversations, but this is where I want to be and nothing has changed on my side.”

Pérez also highlighted that he expects clear progress from Cadillac, both in performance and in team operations. According to him, there is still room to improve pit stops, strategy, tire management, and other track processes. The Mexican also expressed anticipation to work with Marcin Budkowski, who took over the team’s leadership after Graeme Lowdon’s departure during the summer break.
“I want to see more progress, closing the gap to the teams ahead of us,” he explained. “We have only contested the 11th race in our history, so there is a lot to develop. But I want to see much greater advancement, because closing that gap can give us a huge boost to start next year in a much better position.”
