Freddie Slater was the fastest driver on the first day of the Formula 3 mid-season testing, held at Madring, a circuit located in Madrid, Spain, which will host F1 for the first time in a few weeks. The Trident driver, championship leader, recorded a time of 1min50s343 in the last of the two sessions of the day.

The second position went to Taito Kato, an ART Grand Prix driver who was 0.073 seconds slower than Slater. Theóphile Nael, with a Campos Racing car, was the third best, followed by Ernesto Rivera, his teammate. The top five group also included Alessandro Giusti from MP Motorsport.
Woo Hyun Shin, a South Korean from Hitech, ended the day with the sixth best time, ahead of Tuukka Taponen, seventh with MP Motorsport. Jin Nakamura, Shin’s teammate at Hitech, recorded the eighth best time, while Ugo Ugochukwu, fastest in the first session, was ninth with Campos Racing. Hiyu Yamakoshi completed the top 10 with Van Amersfoort.

The Brazilians chose to work on long runs and, with higher times, had more discreet positions in the classification. Pedro Clerot was 17th with a Rodin Motorsport car, while Fernando Barrichello was 29th with a car prepared by AIX Racing.
Formula 3 has another day of testing at Madring this Tuesday, and then moves on to the penultimate round of the 2026 season on September 4, 5, and 6, at the Monza Circuit in Italy.
