Carlos Sainz decided to stay at Williams for 2027, despite the team having faced a first half of the season below expectations this year. The Spanish driver explained the main reasons that led him to continue with the British team’s project in Formula 1.

Williams will keep the same driver duo for the third consecutive year, with Sainz and Alex Albon continuing as teammates. For the Spaniard, the trust in the people who are part of the organization was decisive for his decision.
Sainz highlighted the talent, motivation, and passion present in the team, as well as the changes made behind the scenes: “There are many reasons to stay and keep pushing with the team. First of all, because of the people who make up this big family. I believe in the strength of the group to be successful,” he said.
The experienced driver also mentioned the investments and ongoing projects as signs that Williams is heading in the right direction. Although he acknowledged the difficulties faced in 2026, Sainz believes the team has the necessary elements to bounce back: “We had an obstacle in the way this season, but we have all the right ingredients to recover and come back stronger,” he added.

He also mentioned another factor, which is the way Williams manages its internal relationships. Since joining the team, Sainz stated he has found direct communication with the team principal, James Vowles, management, and other members of the organization, something he considers important to identify problems and seek improvements.
“To improve and move forward, it is important to be transparent and honest, and to have a work environment where everyone can take responsibility for their actions with the goal of evolving,” Sainz concluded.
