Laurent Mekies gave hints about Red Bull’s future in the 2027 Formula 1 season and suggested that the team should keep Isack Hadjar for another year alongside Max Verstappen.

The Frenchman joined the team this year, being the most recent teammate of the four-time world champion after other competitors failed to keep up with him in the past. So far, he has shown pace and in Hungary, finished for the seventh consecutive time inside the top-6.
Therefore, Hadjar has impressed within Red Bull and may have his future secured in F1. “It is good news to have a strong second driver for the first time in a long time. That was also one of our goals before this season. Isack is delivering solid performance and has learned a lot from the team and from Max,” Mekies told De Telegraaf.

Although Isack’s renewal is not something confirmed for 2027, the executive implied that this will be the path taken for the Austrian team. “It is good news, including for Max, that our two cars are a bit closer in terms of performance. We have not yet discussed the future, but everyone can see that Isack is doing an excellent job. Therefore, we will make a logical decision,” he concluded.
