Ferrari used its first curfew exception of the 2026 Formula 1 season during the Hungarian GP weekend. The information was confirmed by the FIA, even after the team dominated Friday’s activities at Hungaroring.

According to the entity, Ferrari members responsible for car operations remained working at the circuit during the restricted period, between 10 PM on Friday and 9:30 AM on Saturday, before FP3.
Formula 1’s sporting regulations allow each team to use four individual curfew exceptions throughout the season. As this was Ferrari’s first, no penalty was applied by the FIA.

The decision is noteworthy because the team had a very competitive start to the weekend. Charles Leclerc was fastest in FP1, while Lewis Hamilton, third in the first session, led Ferrari’s one-two in FP2, with an advantage of almost half a second over the closest competitors.
Racing Bulls also used a curfew exception. The FIA confirmed that team members remained at the circuit during the restricted period, using their second permitted exception of the season. As with Ferrari, no sanction was applied.
